Committee Development, REAL
In collaboration with the Real Estate Association of Latinx Professionals, Vamos spearheaded the formation of a new committee subsequent to the success of an event tailored for early career and emerging professionals. Bolstered by Nancy Guzman’s support, they jointly planed a virtual event that showcased Latinx talent in Asset Management and Development. As well as highlight the need for similar platforms fostering connection, career advancement, and entrepreneurial guidance in roles often unheard of within the community. Programs reached over 120 guests virtually and in-person, with the first in-person networking event in LA. Marking these gatherings as some the largest convenings of Latinx Commercial Real Estate professionals. Vamos’ contributions to the Nueva Gen committee include:
- recruiting founding members
- facilitating and moderating events
- expanding & solidifying nationwide presence
- creating graphics, memos, & presentations
- building a linkedin network
- designing its mission & vision
Vamos also assisted with the end-review feedback and recommendations for the Strategic Plan of the Nueva Gen committee. Yesenia Martinez developed the Strategic Plan and led the planning process. The Strategic Plan would serve as a roadmap, guiding activities, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment. This process was informed by a pre-meeting survey and by conducting a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis. Committee members were engaged prior-and-post to the strategic plan meeting facilitated by Ms. Martinez. The key sections of the Strategic included:
- Mission & Vision Statements that clearly articulate the purpose and goals of the committee, outlining its mission and vision to guide its impact.
- Goals & Objectives defining specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals, aligning this to the overall objectives of REĀL.
- Membership Guidelines establishing criteria for expectations and active participation.
- Communication Strategy for a comprehensive and informed
- Budget that outlines the financial resources required to support the committee’s activities, ensuring responsible allocation of funds.
- Succession Planning to implement a plan for leadership continuity and effectiveness of the committee over the long term.
The Nueva Gen Committee seeks to foster relationships, career development, entrepreneurship, and community engagement in Commercial Real Estate by (1) creating a global network of professionals under the age of 35, (2) highlighting the work of REAL members, and (3) connecting emerging Latinx CRE Leaders.
