Black Wall Street Contractor Academy
The Black Wall Street Chamber of Commerce and the Black Wall Street Business Center in Tulsa, OK engaged Vamos to lead their Summer Contractor Academy. The Black Wall Street Contractor’s Academy Program is a 4-week hybrid program designed to provide career training and skills development to individuals interested in pursuing careers in the construction industry or establishing a special trade firm. The program offered classroom instruction led by Ari. Active industry professionals were invited as guest speakers. The curriculum covered:
- Education & Training to build a Project pipeline & referral Clients
- skills & resources to operate a sustainable contracting business
- strategy Development that leads to Asset Building via Entrepreneurship
- Creating a Business Plan & project Portfolio
- understanding factors to become Lendable
- Avoiding certain risks by covering contracting do’s & don’ts
- Mentorship & Technical Assistance pre-post program
- analyzing challenges and foreseeing industry or market trends
- becoming bonded, insured, & obtaining minority certifications
Ari’s relationship with local and national partners led to sponsorships for the the program culmination, and 1-hour of pro-bono legal consulting for each participant, offered by a local attorney.
