Construction of Water Infrastructure
Addressing a real need in the market for water infrastructure projects, we led the launch of a utility contracting firm in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The firm performed underground water and wastewater utility connections, pipeline extensions, manhole and hydrant installations, and road pavement. Our permitting and project management acumen was invaluable in managing operations for projects in the Public Right of Way, engaging with Public Works and Engineering departments. Nearing the end of the firms 1st year in business, we began securing Public-Private Development Contracts for small multi-family projects. The firm has installed over 7 million feet of pipeline across various cities and counties, for residential and commercial sites. As the lead Project Manager, our SOW included:
- sourcing and obtaining insurance and bonding
- city registrations and permitting in over 20 cities
- building a team & training early career professionals as project coordinators and pm’s
- contractural agreements, creating documents for bidding, invoicing, and pM trackers
- manage the closeout of hundreds of projects as THE prime utility contractor
- business development THAT LED TO a strong referral base
- build a strong network of suppliers, vendorS, & active industry professionals
- Securing competitive financial opportunities for equipment & MATERIAL line of credit
- oversee sub-contractor opportunities with other prime contractors
- spearhead initiatives to remain competitive, such as obtaining wbe & hub certifications
Our industry partnerships with local high schools, colleges and universities helped us welcome student interns as Project Coordinators, who helped us leave a long term footprint throughout DFW. Students from programs in Finance, Accounting, Business, Real Estate, and Construction programs received high-level industry training and exposure to the many career opportunities in construction and contracting. Some received college credit, went on to pursue employment with builders, contractors, or grow family owned businesses. Vamos is a strong advocate for young professionals entering the skilled service workforce, women in project management, and construction careers.
